A Day in My Life #1 : A Friday with Nephew and Three Kittens

Three Kittens

Hello, there! Just a random diary blog entry today. Here is a day in my life:

Today’s events are quite terrific. I was supposed to take my nephew to school on foot this morning. We were a bit behind our usual schedule when another parent from his class finally showed up and gave him a ride. It was really helpful, I didn’t have to go all the way to his school and back.

Then, I spent some me time, clearing out some grass from the front yard, the job I wanted to do but couldn’t find the time to since my nephew is at home. I also play with Mimi the Cat while doing the job. I cleared just a small patch, but it was quite satisfying imagining someday I would do the rest of the yard.

I also fed the kittens with replacement milk successfully. There are three new kittens we rescued from the garden yesterday. They started to learn how to suck the milk from the syringe. And surprisingly, this afternoon, the two of them already started eating the cat's dry food I prepared for their older half-sibling.

Then I spent another me time watching an episode of K-drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier”. It was hilarious.

Suddenly, it was already time to pick up my nephew from school. The sky was gloomy. The rain was about to pour. So I went on foot and brought two umbrellas with me. I was late. I was usually the first to arrive at the school, but this time. My nephew was already waiting at the gate. I mentioned about him going home by himself this morning, but it looked like he didn’t dare to accept the challenge that he had waited for me to come.

Today is his Laptop Day. He immediately reached out for his laptop and watched short videos from YouTube. Tomorrow is a holiday for him, anyway. And I need to loosen up my control because, actually, to maintain control is tiring. I think I need to relax more, not to push myself to maintain control.

At noon, we went to the mosque for the Friday prayer. I was alone in the female section. At that moment, I was hoping that it was my son whom I brought here every Friday. I said to Allah that if He granted me a son, I would bring him to the mosque every Friday. I would bring him to a teacher to learn every day. I would bring him to Masjidil Haram and Madina to pray and to learn the religion. But if Allah decided that I won’t have any, it also suffices. The life that He granted me right now is enough. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I have a home to stay. I have a kind husband. He provides me well. I am healthy. I have more than I deserve. What a blessing from Allah!

During the late afternoon, I felt fed up with washing the dishes or doing any other house chores. I decided to release the kittens from the cage while feeling them. I sat at the veranda, filled my lungs with fresh afternoon air, while writing this post.

My husband will be coming home late tonight. My nephew and I ordered some good food online for dinner. I don’t usually cook dinner. I guess I will finish the day by finishing the laundry and washing the dishes. And maybe read a chapter or two from Reda Gaudiamo’s book “Na Willa”.
