May Update: Going Back to Full Time Freelancing

Post a Comment

Hi pals! How's everything? I haven't posted any updates recently, either in my blogs or on social media. I guessed I was trapped in my daily routine. It's not that I don't have time to write. Writing is only a matter of priorities. But I don't know why I just kept staring at this empty screen. My mind was so occupied with other things that it is hard for me to start writing. What do we call this? Writer's block? I am not sure.

It is not that I don't have any ideas to share with you. I kept a long list of topics I would like to write about. But I don't know exactly where to start.

So, here I am today writing to you.

I won't be discussing a serious topic today. This post won't be technical. I just want to say, Hi!

... and maybe telling you a bit about my activities lately.

All my tutoring sessions ended in April. My students already entered their university entrance exam at the end of April, and now we are waiting for the results to be announced on May 28th. I already got another teaching offer, but it will not start until July. So, basically, I am going back to full-time freelancing at home.

My husband wants me to work more on our microstock project. However, book sales have recently been high. So, I have to spend more time packing and delivering. Looking at this momentum, I have been thinking about how to make the bookstore more financially sustainable. For example, by creating a new product. What product would be good? I don't know yet. Do you have any suggestions?

And also I have another big ongoing project: rearranging the backyard. I have been abandoning the backyard for about four months because the tutoring sessions were held in the morning. The only time I can do gardening is in the morning, or else I cannot stand the sun. The only time I don't go tutoring is on Sunday, but I must be at my mother-in-law's every Sunday. So basically I only have a very limited time in very early in the mornings to check on the backyard. Because of this, the backyard has turned into a jungle!

And, yeah! Gardening is part of my freelancing lifestyle!

Starting this May, I spend around three hours of my morning working on the backyard and front yard. Clearing up the land from wild weeds, composting, and repotting the plants to the new planter bags. Progress has been slow, but it looked so much better than last month.

Sometimes I took some harvest. For instance, today I harvested around 5 kg of turmeric. My sister-in-law has requested most of it. She wants to make sour turmeric syrup from it. Let's see what it will taste like. I bet it will be refreshing.

That's all the updates I would like to share with you. Freelance life is always dynamic. May might be the month of gardening and bookselling. June might be another different story.

See you in the next post! And say hi to Mr. or Mrs. Catterpillar from my garden!
