Declutter Your Mind

Clearing Up Your Brain to Work Better

It's been a very tough week. We have exams, grading, organizations, competitions, and appraisal at the same time. All of it beside that you are still obliged to teach in classes. It was so stressful that, honestly, I wanted to give up teaching.
Did I tell you that maintaining work and personal life balance is essential? Another thing that I realized is that we also needs to declutter your mind.

Yes, not only you need to declutter your house or works space, but also your mind. There are a lot things going on in your life, especially for females that has multidimensional thinking style, if you fail to keep your mind need, you may end up like me being very stressful, unable to see solution to your problems even if it is right in front of you.
I would usually take out a piece of paper or I ask a friend who are willing to listen without showing emotional reaction to help me.

First step, I am going to pour our everything in my mind, by writing on paper or talking to a friend.  This is the most important part. Some people say letting out your anger will release your tension. I personally don't believe that. Anger can eventually produce a greater damage for other people. I would rather choose a different way of letting out my emotion. Crying or singing can be an option. If I find it hard to stop then I will force myself to read the Quran. By letting your mind out, it actually help to release the stress.

Next, I will categorize my problems into several segments. For me it was usually between work and personal life.

Last, I discuss the solution to my friend or I will do deep thinking myself. Discussing with a friend is especially very helpful, because they can give us a different perspective to ours. Like the last time I had a very stressful moment, I thought that it was a personality problem, but we finally figured out that it was actually due to lack of nutrition and basic daily needs. So my friend told me about other people coping with their busy life and manage to have their basic needs covered. Then we arrange together a schedule so I can maintain my life, I need to take care more to my own needs. I need to wake up earlier, having better foods, be discipline about cleaning... in the end, it looks so simple!

Last but not least, maintaining the continuity of doing the solution is another problem. Having friends who cares is very important. I am very thankful that I share my life with good friends, who remind me to smile and cheer me up.

That's all from me. I hope it will be useful for you. See you in the next post.
